Elon Musk new choice for Tesla’s CFO is Vaibhav Taneja of Indian origin, who is also called as “Master of Coin”

Vaibhav Taneja of Indian Origin has been named as Tesla’s new Chief Financial Officer as Zachary Kirkhorn previous Chief of Finance announced his decision to step down from his current role.
Zachary Kirkhorn and Tesla however doesn’t specified the reasons why he is stepping down from his position.

Vaibhav Taneja,45, will now be the Tesla’s Master of Coin and Finance Chief in addition to his present position Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) of electric vehicle giant.

“Tesla thanks Zachary Kirkhorn for his significant contributions.Mr Kirkhorn will continue to serve Tesla through the end of the year to support a seamless transition,” it said.

“This morning Tesla announced that I’ve stepped down from my role as Chief Financial Officer, succeeded by our Chief Accounting Officer, Vaibhav Taneja,”Mr Kirkhorn said in a LinkedIn post.

“Being a part of this company is a special experience, and I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done together since I joined over 13 years ago. As I shift my responsibilities to support this transition, I want to thank the talented, passionate, and hard-working employees at Tesla, who have accomplished things many thought (were) not possible. I also want to thank Elon for his leadership and optimism, which has inspired so many people,” he said.

Who is Vaibhav Taneja?

Vaibhav Taneja, an alumnus of Delhi University, held a consulting role at PwC for 16 years. Before joining Tesla, Taneja occupied financial and accounting positions within SolarCity Corporation, Elon’s solar panel producer company that Tesla acquired in 2016. Taneja’s association with Tesla starts from May 2018 when he took on the roles of Corporate Controller and Chief Operating Officer.

Taneja’s tenure at SolarCity Corporation spanned from March 2016 to May 2018, during which he assumed various financial and accounting responsibilities. His dedication earned him the position of Assistant Corporate Controller, a crucial role in orchestrating the seamless integration of accounting teams from both entities following Tesla’s acquisition.

In 2021, Vaibhav Taneja was also appointed as a director at Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Tesla.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s latest quarterly financial report indicates a 20% surge in share value compared to the same period the previous year.
