Divya Dutta On Rashmika Mandanna Being Criticised For Her Performance In Chhaava: Mujhe Bahut Pyaari Lagti Hai

Laxman Utekar directorial Chhaava has been making a mark with the box office with its exceptional collection. In just a week of its release, it has become Bollywood’s first film to cross Rs 200 crore and reach Rs 300 crores collection in 2025. While the audiences are loving Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and the ruthless Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, they are not impressed with Rashmika Mandanna’s portrayal of Yesubai Bhonsale, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj wife.

Amidst all the criticism, actress Divya Dutta, who essayed the role of Soyarabai, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s second wife, has now come out to support Rashmika and her performance in the film. During an interview with India Today, the 47-year-old actress expressed that she believes in the Pushpa 2: The Rule actress as she is an ‘incredible actor’.

The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actress, went on to add that people have different opinions regardless. Some might feel that they should have had a longer role in the film, or they might praise others for their staring aura. What truly matters is that the film is performing well and is among the biggest blockbusters of the year—we should celebrate that,” Divya concluded.

For those who don’t know, netizens have criticized the 28-year-old actress’ dialogue delivery in Chhaava. They have expressed that her South Indian accent can be heavily heard in her Hindi dialogues, which has made it difficult for her to carry the weight of heavy dialogues.

Adapted from Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel of the same name, Chhaava sees Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsle and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Shahenshah Aurangzeb. Based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s eldest son, Chhatrapatri Sambhaji Maharaj, the Laxman Utekar directorial also co-stars Diana Penty, Divya Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, and Vineet Kumar Singh among others in pivotal roles.
