Jigra director Vasan Bala is assured that Karan Johar has his back despite several controversies. The filmmaker reposted an article that lauded Jigra, asking Johar to always have his back amid the criticisms. The article was first posted by Alia Bhatt. Bala reposted the story, saying that Johar has always been supportive.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Bala shared Bhatt’s story and wrote, “They have my back, kujj na howe. Ye sab ho jaawe no matter what.” Karan reposted Bala’s post and assured him, “Always and forever.”

You can check out the exchange below.

These posts come as Jigra has received strong mixed reviews.

While some critics thoroughly enjoyed the movie, a section of the press weren’t impressed.

Mashable gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, “Vasan Bala directional Jigra is here and phew! That was one emotionally charged prison break film. Jigra stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role as the protective sister Satya with Vedang Raina playing Ankur, Satya’s little brother who is falsely accused of carrying drugs in a foreign country. Jigra was heavily promoted on the name of Alia and Vedang’s pairing but the real stars were the supporting cast of the film, especially Manoj Pawha and Vikram Gombher. The film strays a bit away from the typical Vasan Bala film but his signature style is still very much evident in the film. If Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota was an action-comedy, then Jigra is an all-out action-drama film with the love of a sister-brother at its core.

Jigra also landed in controversy due to its box office collections. Divya Khosla Kumar has not only accused Johar and Bhatt of copying her movie Savi, but she also accused the makers of manipulating box office collections and faking ticket bookings.

Khosla Kumar recently said, “Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics; she’s already well-established. But true heroism is in speaking against wrongdoing. Let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power.”

Jigra also created controversy after Bala said he was unhappy that Johar shared the incomplete script with Bhatt. Although Bala clarified that he wanted to grammatically clean the script, some social media users misunderstood his statement, and the nepotism debate started once again. On the first day, Jigra recorded a box office collection of Rs. 16.75 crore.
