Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has been breaking records at the box office. Many people, especially the Hindi audience, are rushing to watch the movie. But director Vikramaditya Motwane seems upset with the masala movie.
Motwane took to his Instagram to express his frustration at the cinema hall chains only screening Pushpa 2 and not leaving enough shows to other movies, especially All We Imagine As Light, which has got big global recognition. The movie got two nominations in the Golden Globes Awards to be held next year.
Motwane said the screen distribution is not even, and that Pushpa 2 has got more screens as compared to Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light. He congratulated director Payal Kapadia for getting two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards 2025 while also expressing his anger.
He wrote on his stories, “And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean fu*k all to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and will have 36 shows a day of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this.”
He also shared a screenshot of a news article which read, “Pushpa 2 is undoubtedly a blockbuster. But at 3 hours 20 minutes, it is occupying more space in movie theatres than normal. A manager of a multiplex on condition of anonymity spoke on the arm twisting tactics of the franchise holders. ‘We are under contract to screen no other film for even one show, action is likely to be taken against us,’ the manager tells Zoom.”
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the hit Pushpa: The Rise, which was released in 2021. The movie directed by Sukumar, has Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Fassil in the lead roles. The moive was released on 5 December, and has now crossed Rs. 750 crores gross at the box office. Allu Arjun reprises his role as Pushpa Raj, who has now become the leader of a Red Sanders smuggling syndicate. He is now married to Srivalli. The moive ended with the makers announcing Pushpa 3.
