The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur’s C3iHub, in partnership with the Union Home Ministry and the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has launched a six-month residential cybersecurity course called the ‘Cyber Commando Training Programme.’
This initiative aims to develop a team of skilled cyber commandos across India, as well as within Central Police Organizations (CPOs), to address the rising challenges in cybersecurity. These trained professionals will play a key role in safeguarding digital infrastructures and responding to cyber incidents.
A group of 38 officials from both Central and State police forces will undergo this intensive program, which provides practical, hands-on experience in various areas of cybersecurity. The training will equip participants with the skills needed to handle security threats, respond to cyber incidents, and implement strong defense mechanisms in critical sectors.
The introduction of this program is seen as a significant advancement in strengthening India’s cybersecurity defenses, aiming to arm professionals with the expertise to tackle the increasingly complex cyber landscape. Professor Amalendu Chandra, Acting Director of IIT Kanpur, highlighted the program’s importance, stating, “The Cyber Commando Training Program is a pivotal step in India’s mission to protect its digital infrastructure. The collaboration between C3iHub, I4C, and the Union Home Ministry underscores our joint commitment to building a highly skilled workforce to counter the growing sophistication of cyber threats facing the nation.”
