NTA removes option to select questions in Section B of JEE Main 2025 – Find out why

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially removed the option to select questions in Section B of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025. In previous years, candidates were able to choose any five out of ten questions in Section B. However, starting in 2025, this option will no longer be available. This change affects JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (BPlanning).

The optional question selection was originally introduced as a temporary adjustment to address challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This adjustment had been in effect from 2020 to 2024. Following the declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) in May 2023 that COVID-19 no longer constituted a global public health emergency, the NTA decided to discontinue the flexible question selection. The exam will return to its earlier structure, where Section B will consist of five mandatory questions for each subject, and candidates will be required to answer all of them without the option to choose.
