The 2018 Asian Games Silver medalist and national record holder of 100m which she recorded in 2021 by completing the race in 11.17s, has been imposed ban for four years for failing in two dope test, samples foe which has been collected on December 5 and 26,2022.
Dutee sample tested positive to contain Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) an anabolic agent acts as steroid, which is listed in prohibited list of “WADA’s 2023 prohibited list of non-specified substances,”.
Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) passed an order of Ban mentioning in order, “The athlete though has satisfied the panel with the source of ingestion of the prohibited substance but was not able to establish the no significant fault or negligence.”
Dutee has “violated article 2.1 and 2.2 of the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA)… she is hereby sanctioned with an ineligibility period of four years as per article 10.2.1.1 of the NADA ADR 2021 beginning from the date of provisional suspension i.e. January 3, 2023.”
Dutee ban period started from January 3, 2023 and all medal, prizes and points she obtained from sample collection period will be disqualified, TOI reported.
Dutee has been given three weeks of time to appeal the decision taken by ADDP.
Parth Goswami, Dutee’s counsel told PTI that she had always been a clean athlete and it was a clear case of “unintentional consumption of banned substance”. Goswami further mentioned, “We were clearly able to establish the source of the substance in the body, which is a substantial proof of lack of intent. The substance was never used to gain any sporting advantage. We are in process of filing an appeal. We are hopeful that we will be able to convince the appeal panel.”
