India’s International Khiladi and Bollwood Actor Akshay Kumar informed he has been granted Indian citizenship on his social media handles, while sending Independence Day wishes on his social handles he said, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day.”
Akshay Kumar often faced criticism for his Canadian citizenship, he has always been questioned for felt disappointed when people questioned his love for country, he said.
Recently, in an interview to Aaj Tak Kumar said, “India is everything to me, and has already applied for change of passport. Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything..,”.
Akshay’s citizenship became a topic of discussion after he did not vote in 2019 Lok Sabha election and with Interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Akshay’s applied for Canadian citizenship during 1990s when he is going through a rough phase in his career after giving consecutive 15 flops movie.
