After staying out of international cricket for almost a year due to injury, Jasprit Bumrah marked his return in a cricket with a bang, leading the way for Team India in the first IRE vs IND T20I match against Ireland. Opting to bowl, Bumrah’s brilliance was evident as he snared 2 wickets for 24 runs, with an impressive nine dot balls considering his long time off the field. With Debutant Prasidh Krishna support, the Indian duo restricted Ireland to 139 for 7.

Despite a shaky start that had Ireland struggling at 59 for 6 in the 11th over, Barry McCarthy’s fiery 51 not out off 33 balls, fueled by four fours and four sixes, ignited a recovery, driving Ireland to a respectable total. He formed a pivotal partnership of 57 runs with Curtis Campher (39), propelling Ireland’s late surge, amassing 54 runs in the last five overs taking Ireland’s total to a respectable total of 139 for 7 wickets.

Chasing Ireland’s target, India set off on a promising note as Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (19 not out) forged a confident opening partnership of 46 runs in 6.2 overs. However, Craig Young dealt a double blow by dismissing Jaiswal and Tilak Varma in quick succession.

Under the looming threat and continuous pouring of rain, Gaikwad showcased composure and awareness, keeping India ahead of the DLS par score. Unfortunately, the game was interrupted by rain at 6.15pm local time, with India securing a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with help of DLS system.
