Motohaus has launched the VLF Tennis electric scooter in India, priced at Rs 1.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The Tennis is sold globally and in India, the scooter is targeted at women, looking for a stylish, lightweight electric scooter. Designed in Italy and known as Velocifero, the Tennis enters a segment dominated by Bajaj, Ather, and TVS amongst others.
The VLF Tennis will be assembled in Kholapur by KAW, the same brand that also assembles and sells the Brixton motorcycles in India. The scooter will be sold alongside the Brixton motorcycles that were recently launched, under retail outlets known as Motohaus.
The VLF Tennis features a classic Italian design and is compact. The scooter gets telescopic front suspension, a unique cantilever rear suspension hidden under the floorboard, an LCD instrument console, LED lights, 12-inch wheels, disc brakes at both ends, and more.
The Tennis features a 2.5kWh battery that is removable and offers a range of 130km with a hub-driven motor. The scooter features three ride modes: Eco, City, and Sport. The Tennis has a top speed of 65kmph and the battery can be fully charged in 3 hours with a 720-watt charger.
The new VLF Tennis electric scooter will compete with the ATher 450S, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 range, and the TVS iQube amongst others in the market. The Tennis’ 88kg kerb weight will surely make it stand out compared to the competition, however, boot space will be a concern.
