On Tuesday, OnePlus launched its highly anticipated flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R, bringing an exciting new feature to Indian users. These devices are the first in the country to support Jio’s cutting-edge 5.5G network, which promises to revolutionize connectivity. This upgraded network, known as Component Carrier Aggregation (3CC) 5G, allows for download speeds that can surpass 1Gbps, offering a significant boost in overall performance.

The partnership between OnePlus and Jio marks a major milestone in India’s 5G journey. With this breakthrough, OnePlus is now a key player in providing faster and more efficient mobile experiences for Indian consumers.

To demonstrate the power of this new 5.5G technology, OnePlus showcased a live test. On a traditional 5G network, the OnePlus 13 recorded a download speed of 277.78 Mbps, which is typical for current 5G speeds. However, when connected to the Jio 5.5G network, the same device reached an impressive 1,014.86 Mbps. This translates to a performance increase of up to 380%, depending on factors like signal strength. When connected to the 5.5G network, users will see a “5GA” icon on their screen, indicating they’re on the fastest available network.

One of the best features of Jio’s 5.5G network is its simplicity. Users don’t need to tweak any settings to access this upgraded network. As long as they have a 5G-compatible device, like the OnePlus 13 series, they can seamlessly connect to 5.5G and enjoy faster speeds. Known as “5G Advanced,” this technology promises faster download and upload speeds, lower latency, more reliable connections, and better coverage overall.

In theory, 5.5G networks can achieve mind-blowing speeds of 10 to 20 Gbps, pushing the boundaries of mobile internet. However, for these speeds to be fully realized, Jio’s 5.5G technology relies on standalone (SA) 5G networks. As Jio continues to expand its infrastructure, users can expect even more improvements in speed and connectivity.

With the OnePlus 13 series embracing this next-generation technology, it’s clear that the future of mobile connectivity has arrived, offering users faster, more reliable, and future-proof experiences.
