Hamas’s Terrorist Attack on Israel to Disrupt Regional Peace: Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu informs his British counterpart that one of Hamas’s motives behind the October 7 attack is to disrupt Israel’s regional peace initiatives.
Netanyahu likely refers to the Abraham Accords, brokered by the US in September 2020, which normalized Israel’s relations with the UAE and Bahrain.
While Saudi Arabia didn’t sign the Accords, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman recently hinted at a forthcoming deal with Israel.
British PM Reaffirms Support for Israel
British Prime Minister Sunak, in the wake of a meeting with Netanyahu, restated the UK’s backing for Israel and pledged increased aid to the region.
“I stand proudly with you in Israel’s most challenging times. As your ally, we offer our unwavering support, standing beside your people, and sharing in your desire for victory,” Sunak emphasized during a press briefing with Netanyahu.
What Netanyahu Quoted at Press Conference
“This is not merely our battle, it’s the battle of the entire civilised war, the battle of Israel, the battle of moderate Arab countries, the battle of the free world, the battle for the future,” .
“We have two forces – one is an axis of evil run by Iran and supported by Hezbollah, Hamas and others that want to bring back the Middle East to the Middle Ages … to the age of war and slavery.
“The other forces [are those] of progress and humanity who want to push for a world of peace and prosperity.”
