Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Congress has sharply criticized the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the declining law and order situation, and questioned the government for the cold blooded murder of two youths in the state capital on the intervening night of December 30-31.
Sushil Anand Shukla, Chairman of the Communication Department of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC), stated that the law and order situation has worsened under BJP rule, with murders and daily stabbings becoming routine business. He accused the BJP government of failing to address the escalating crime graph in the state.
Shukla highlighted that anti-social elements have become emboldened due to political support, noting five incidents of open firing in Raipur since the BJP took power. He labeled the capital as unsafe, coining it ‘Chakupur’ due to its rising crime rate.
He emphasized that an atmosphere of anarchy now prevails in the state, with public trust in both the BJP government and the police eroded.
Congress leaders have taken their concerns from the Legislative Assembly to the streets, yet the government appears indifferent, even ignoring protests outside the Chief Minister’s residence, dismissing the concerns of the public and opposition alike.
