The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has partnered with the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) to launch the ‘UK-India TOEFL Scholarship’ for Indian students. This initiative awards scholarships to ten Indian students based on their TOEFL scores. Each recipient will receive a one-time scholarship of Rs 2.5 lakh, totaling Rs 25 lakh. These scholarships aim to support students pursuing full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programs at universities in the UK.
In addition, the TOEFL India Championship, a national-level competition, offers a total prize pool of Rs 15 lakh. The competition provides participants with an opportunity to showcase their English language proficiency and academic skills.
ETS has also simplified the registration process for the TOEFL iBT exam, reducing the overall registration time to three minutes. According to the press release, the new process removes steps like selecting score recipients and gathering additional information, which can now be done later. This change results in a smoother experience for test takers.
The new registration process consists of six steps:
1. Creating an account (username, email, password)
2. Selecting one or two tests
3. Choosing test date(s) and time(s)
4. Entering personal details (name, address, phone)
5. Adding or declining test preparation materials
6. Reviewing the shopping cart and completing the payment.
Sachin Jain, Country Manager of ETS India, stated, “With over 13,000 institutions across more than 160 countries accepting the TOEFL iBT test, it remains an essential tool for students aspiring to study abroad. The recent updates, including a shorter test and a streamlined registration process, are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience and make TOEFL more accessible.”
