Hero MotoCorp patents new motorcycle — The Karizma XMR 250?

Hero MotoCorp has patented a new motorcycle, which looks like it’s based on the Hero 2.5R Xtunt Concept. This raises many eyebrows, and most of it suggests that it could be the Hero Karizma XMR 250. There is a high chance for the new Hero Karizma XMR 250 to be unveiled at EICMA this year.

Looking at the patent images, the Hero Karizma XMR 250 features a fuel tank design similar to the Hero 2.5R Xtunt Concept, while it sports a full fairing. Other bits of the motorcycle seem to be identical or similar to the Hero Karizma XMR 210, which was launched last year. The Karizma name returned after a long break since its initial launch in 2003.

The Hero Karizma XMR 250 is likely to be powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox, while the specifications of the engine are unknown at the moment. Other interesting bits of the motorcycle are the integrated winglets on the fairing and the USD forks.

The Hero Karizma name returned last year with the Hero Karizma XMR 210 with high hopes, but sales have not met the company’s expectations. The original Karizma that was launched in 2003 was the first motorcycle to give Indians a glimpse of sport touring but the new XMR 210 failed to capture the fan following.
