JK Rowling best known for writing the infamous book series Harry Potter has remained in the headlines due to her controversial statements on transgender community. The author’s problematic comments on gender politics has also left fans worried about the upcoming show. Many hoped she wouldn’t be highly involved in the show but the studio has confirmed her steady involvement in the process.
According to reports, HBO chief Casey Bloys during a media interaction revealed that JK Rowling was “very, very involved in the process selecting the writer and the director.” She also added that, Rowling’s anti-trans statements “haven’t affected the casting or hiring of writers or productions staff.”
HBO recently released a statement defending Rowling’s contribution to the show and said, “We are proud to once again tell the story of Harry Potter — the heartwarming books that speak to power of friendship, resolve and acceptance. JK Rowling has a right to express her personal views. We will remain focused on the development of the new series, which will only benefit from her involvement.”

The studio also talked about how the parent company Warner Bros “been working with JK Rowling and in the Harry Potter business for over 20 years” and called “her contribution” to the franchise “invaluable.”
The author has also reacted to the chatter on social media about her involvement with the show. She shared a screenshot of a tweet by an X user who said, “My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined” when the author revealed that she’s “very involved” in the Harry Potter series. Reacting to the post Rowling wrote, “I’ve only just seen this response to me saying I’m very involved in the Harry Potter TV show and I think I’ve pulled something laughing.”
The show is reportedly still in the casting process and the production details are yet to be revealed.
