The pantless trend may have mostly flamed out, but Kristen Stewart is keeping the warm weather look alive well into the fall.
Over the weekend, the actor attended a Q&A with director Pablo Larraín about their 2021 film Spencer, where she showed us just how to take hotpants into a colder climate. Over a white cropped crewneck tee, Stewart wore an open gray cashmere cardigan from Magda Butrym. While her contemporaries like Dakota Johnson and Jennifer Lawrence might opt for a pair of jeans to go with their tee and cardigan, Stewart chose a pair of matching cashmere micro shorts with lace trim.
In the past, Stewart has been known to wear the pantless look with bare legs. This time around, she wore a layered look, adding low-denier black tights tucked into white socks and black open-toe platform sandals. She added a pair of white sunglasses and a chunky chain necklace.
On her Love Lies Bleeding press tour, the actor regularly embraced the leg-forward look, wearing a high-cut bodysuit over control-top hosiery, and cable-knit hotpants with a cropped button-up and loafers. “We decided to play with underpinnings, using foundational garments less as substructures to the look, but leaning into them as focal points or layering pieces,” Stewart’s stylist Tara Swennen told Vogue in March. “[We were] not necessarily using it as outerwear, but having that juxtaposition of something a little harsh, yet feminine peeking from unexpected places.” It’s safe to say that in her lacy cashmere micro shorts, Kristen Stewart is continuing to abide by that fashion philosophy.
