Amid the raging controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent, actress Akansha Ranjan has come out in support of Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, slamming the legal action initiated by the Maharashtra Police against the duo. Akansha took to her Instagram stories to express her views, questioning the silence of lawmakers over heinous crimes like rape and bribery.

Akansha shared a post stating that the Maharashtra Police had filed a case against Ranveer, Samay, and others involved in the controversial episode. Alongside the post, she wrote, “Guys I think I’m losing my mind.. so marital rape is ok? Any and all rape is ok? Killing us with hazardous air quality is fine. People literally falling into potholes and dying is fine. Pay inequality / bribery/cast system/taxes that are killing the middle class is all MAST! But apne moral standing par koi kaise dhabba dal sakta hai??” Akansha’s statement highlights the perceived double standard in the application of justice, where certain crimes are prioritized over others.

Akansha is not the first celebrity to defend Ranveer and Samay amidst the controversy. Earlier, Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, and Poonam Pandey also came out in support of the duo, stating that the police action against them was excessive. The controversy began after Ranveer appeared as a guest on Samay’s India’s Got Latent, and made a comment that was widely criticized as “disgusting” and “tone deaf.” Ranveer later issued an unconditional apology, stating that comedy was not his forte, and that there was a serious “lapse in judgement” on his part.

The controversy sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for stricter regulations on content creators and others defending Ranveer’s right to freedom of speech. Meanwhile, multiple police complaints and FIRs have been registered against Ranveer, Samay, and others associated with the show in Mumbai, Indore, and Assam.
