Recently, actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor recently surprised people online by casting her vote in the US Presidential Election. The 31-year-old, who lives in Mumbai, shared an Instagram Story showing her with an “I voted” sticker, and a Kamala Harris icon, indicating her support for the Democratic candidate.
This revelation left many followers stunned as they didn’t know Kapoor held an American citizenship. A Reddit post expressing this surprise sparked significant discussion, with one user exclaiming, “Akansha Ranjan Kapoor is a US citizen?” The post, titled ‘Definitely did NOT know this,’ quickly gained attention with dozens of reactions.
The comments on the post highlighted several India-based celebrities who hold foreign citizenship. For example, Akshay Kumar recently gave up his Canadian citizenship, while Alia Bhatt has a British passport. Meanwhile, Ambani siblings Isha and Akash Ambani are US citizens.
In the comments section, some users questioned why Akansha uses “Kapoor” as her last name, given that the rest of her family goes by “Ranjan.” One user asked, “Why is she a Kapoor when the rest of her family is just Ranjan?” Another user echoed, “This. I also want to know the answer.”
