After shaking up the box office with Animal, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up for his next big project, Spirit, featuring none other than Baahubali star Prabhas in the lead. While details about the film have been kept under wraps, Vanga recently dropped a significant clue about the plot during a public appearance, leaving fans buzzing with excitement.
At a pre-release event for the Telugu film Pottel, Vanga was asked to reveal something unexpected about Spirit. Taking the stage with a playful smile, the director scribbled the words “Police Story” on a chalkboard, a reveal that sent the crowd into a frenzy. With this cryptic hint, it seems that Prabhas is set to don a police uniform, sparking speculation that Spirit could be an action-packed cop drama. A video of the moment has since gone viral on social media, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), fueling even more hype around the film.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting more news about Spirit since its initial announcement. Back in 2021, T-Series unveiled the first poster, marking the film as Prabhas’ 25th career project—a milestone for the actor. However, beyond the fact that the film is in pre-production, little else has been shared until Vanga’s recent revelation.
In a prior interview with Galatta Plus, Vanga discussed his vision for the film and the staggering expectations surrounding its release. He confidently stated that Spirit would be made on a mammoth budget of ₹300 crore, and he predicted the film would rake in ₹150 crore on its opening day alone. “With Prabhas’ star power and our combination, along with satellite and digital rights, we can recover our budget right away. If everything goes according to plan with the teaser, trailer, and songs pre-release, the opening day will hit ₹150 crore. It’s a trade calculation,” Vanga explained, leaving fans eager to see how the film will perform.
Vanga is no stranger to delivering commercial blockbusters. His directorial resume includes just three films—Arjun Reddy, its Bollywood remake Kabir Singh, and the recent Animal—but each of these has turned into a major box-office success, establishing him as a force to be reckoned with in Indian cinema. Given his track record, Spirit is shaping up to be another massive hit, especially with Prabhas, one of India’s most bankable stars, leading the way.
