Actress Millie Bobby Brown became a household name after starring in Netflix’s science fiction show Stranger Things. Having started her acting journey at the age of 10, she has been facing a lot of criticism by the internet and the media due to her change in appearances. Mostly pointing out how she looks completely different from her younger self and questioning why she has been “ageing badly” and taking digs at her for her “mommy makeover look”. Taking to her official social media handle, the actress called out the article writers and their headlines.

On Tuesday, she shared a video talking about the same on Instagram addressing the scrutiny she has been facing as a young woman who has grown up in the public eye. Shedding light on how the world seems to be unwilling towards accepting her growth and transformation, the 21-year-old actress wrote in the caption, “For some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time. And because I don’t, I’m now a target.”

Calling out specific articles, headlines, and the people who wrote those articles, she expressed how “This isn’t journalism. This is bullying.” Mentioning a few specific articles, in the caption of her video, she added, “Let’s talk about the articles, the headlines, the people who are so desperate to tear young women down. ‘Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown ageing so badly?’ by Lydia Hawken. ‘What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?’ by John Ely. ‘Millie Bobby Brown mistaken for someone’s mom as she guides younger sister Ava through LA’ by Cassie Carpenter. ‘Little Britain’s Matt Lucas takes savage swipe at Millie Bobby Brown’s new “mommy makeover” look’—written by Bethan Edwards, amplifying an insult rather than questioning why a grown man is mocking a young woman’s appearance.”

Brown went on to explain how “adult writers” spending their time trying to dissect “my face, my body, my choices” is “disturbing.” She went on to point out that some of the articles are written by women. Despite being vocal about “supporting and uplifting young women,” when the time comes, all that matters to them is “clicks,” she added. She pointed out, “Disillusioned people can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not theirs.”

Millie stated that she refuses to apologise for growing up and not trying to make herself smaller to “fit the unrealistic expectations of people.” “I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself,” she added. She concluded her bit by stated that people should do better for every young girl since they deserve to grow up without the fear of being “torn apart for simply existing.”

As soon as the video was posted by the Enola Holmes actress, fans took to the comment section of the post to laud her for pointing out specific articles and their authors without hesitation. Many even hailed her and expressed how they are proud of her for taking such a stand.

On the work front, Millie Bobby Brown will be next seen in Netflix’s film The Electric State. Set to release on March 7, it also stars Chris Pratt in the lead. She also has Stranger Things 5 in her pipeline. The makers of the show are yet to announce the show’s release date.
