Tom Holland Joins Matt Damon For Christopher Nolan’s Next Project; Here’s All You Need To Know

According to the latest report by Variety, British actor Tom Holland, known for portraying Spider-Man in multiple Marvel movies, is in talks to join the cast of filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s next film.

If the deal goes through, Holland will star alongside Matt Damon, who last year starred in Nolan’s Oppenheimer, in the top-secret upcoming film. Nolan is writing and directing the film, which Universal Pictures is releasing in theaters on 17 July 2026.

Also, according to the report, Universal Pictures had no comment about Holland’s casting.

The upcoming feature, which does not have a title yet, is expected to start shooting in early 2025, though Holland’s casting could prove challenging to production timelines.

Reports across social media also state that Nolan’s next film will be a period horror about vampires in the 1920s though there’s no official confirmation for the same.

The actor, best known for playing Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be busy with Spider-Man 4, and potentially the next Avengers sequel over the next year and more, as first noted by the Hollywood Reporter. In between stints as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Holland appeared in the West End adaptation of Romeo & Juliet alongside Francesca Amewudah-Rivers.

This project reunites Nolan with the studio that backed his hugely successful historical drama Oppenheimer, which won the Oscar for Best Picture (and six other statues), and grossed $975 million at the global box office.

The three-hour, R-rated period piece was Nolan’s first time working with Universal and, in doing so, the director severed a nearly two-decade long creative partnership with Warner Bros., the company that has backed many of his biggest blockbusters including The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and Dunkirk. Nolan reportedly went directly to Universal for his Oppenheimer follow-up rather than shopping the film around town.

Oppenheimer starred the who’s who of Hollywood talent, including but not limited to Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, and Josh Hartnett. So, it’s safe to assume a bevy of A-listers could soon be joining Damon and Holland in this forthcoming feature.
