Recently, actor Vikrant Massey caused a stir with a social media post that many interpreted as an announcement of his retirement. The actor’s message reflected on his career, gratitude for his supporters, and his plans to take a step back. However, in a recent interview with News18, Massey clarified the misunderstanding, explaining that he’s taking a long break rather than retiring from acting altogether.
Earlier, in his Instagram post, Massey wrote, “Hello, the last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a husband, father, and a son. And also as an actor. So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last two movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted!”
Now, in his interview with News18, Massey clarified the message and said, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home, and health is also acting up. People misread it.” He emphasized that his decision is rooted in self-care, and a desire to reconnect with his personal life after years of intense work.
Massey’s decision has been met with admiration from colleagues. Director Sanjay Gupta praised the move, saying, “It takes guts, resilience, and an insane amount of belief in yourself to do it.” Dia Mirza also expressed her support, commenting, “Breaks are best.” Although Massey plans to step back after completing his current commitments, he still has exciting projects in the pipeline. He’s reportedly part of Don 3, starring alongside Ranveer Singh.
In the meantime, Vidhu Vinod Chopra dropped the trailer of his next project, Zero Se Restart, which chronicles the making of his 2023 film 12th Fail. The trailer offers a glimpse into the movie’s behind-the-scenes moments, featuring candid shots of Vikrant Massey.
The trailer begins with Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, and Karan Johar praising 12th Fail. It shows that no one wanted to direct 12th Fail. A voice-over highlights the challenges of bringing 12th Fail to life, going on to show Chopra’s zeal to bring the story alive, and Massey’s dedication to playing the role. It shows fun moments, like Chopra asking actors to emulate Massey’s work ethic, and a scene where Massey rubs his slipper to make it look old.
The clip ends showing Chopra getting into a heated exchange with a team member. The trailer also comes with moments where fans gathered to meet Massey when he was shooting for the project in Delhi. The documentary film is narrated, edited, and directed by Jaskunwar Kohli. It has music by Shantanu Moitra, who composed the music for 12th Fail. The movie made its debut at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, and will be released on 13 December.
