The Bandra police have filed a 1,613-page chargesheet in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case that occurred on January 16. The Bollywood actor was stabbed multiple times by an intruder, later nabbed and identified as Mohammed Shariful Fakir, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. Per the charge sheet, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor, told the actor to stop fighting the person wielding the knife and rather rush to the hospital. She said, “Ye sab chhor do, pehle neeche chalo. Hospital chalte hai.” (Drop this and let’s go downstairs and leave for the hospital first.)
Per the chargesheet, Kareena Kapoor arrived home at 1:20 am on January 16, 40 minutes before the incident. At around 2 AM, their youngest kid, Jehangir’s nanny, Eliliamma, came screaming in their room, informing them of an intruder with a knife demanding money: “Jaybaba ke room me ek admi hath me chaku lekar aaya hai, aur wo paise maang raha hai.“
According to the account in the chargesheet, Saif Ali Khan confronted the man, “Kaun hai? Kya chahiye?” which followed a scuffle. Even as the 54-year-old actor managed to grab the person, he was stabbed in the neck, back, and hand with a knife. A piece of the knife was lodged in his back that was removed successfully during a surgery at the Lilavati Hospital. After spending five days at the hospital, Saif was discharged on January 16.
A massive manhunt was launched to nab the culprit but it ended in the arrest of two unrelated persons initially until Shariful was caught. Per reports, he climbed the building via a pipe to reach the first floor, from where he took the stairs to reach the 11th floor. Before entering the actor’s duplex on the 11th and 12th floors, the man tried opening doors on other floors as well. Before the incident, Shariful spent an hour in the adjacent building, per CCTV recordings.
