Actress Priyanka Chopra has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry nationally as well as internationally. Currently busy with the shoot of her upcoming projects, she recently returned back to LA along with her daughter Maltie Marie Chopra Jonas. Despite living abroad along with her family, she remains connected to her roots. It was in 2020, during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, that she had released a video of herself joining the janta curfew and applauding the services of the first responders during the crucial time.

The video of her clapping for the efforts put in by first responders like the doctors, nurses and all the first responders battling Covid-19, had gone viral. Now a YouTuber Brett Cooper has used the same clip in her video where she is criticising celebrities and their ‘tone-deaf responses towards the suffering of ‘normal people’. Through her video, she pointed out how they failed to connect with the general public and relate to their anxiety.

Calling out The Sky Is Pink actress, the YouTuber questioned the former’s action and mentioned that the video just keeps going on. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, she adds, “What did you think this would do? People watch this video and are like I don’t need your applause! At all! This is only making this situation worse because you are trying to empathize with me from the balcony of your huge Malibu mansion wherever you are!”

She goes on to say, “I am sorry if normal people saw these posts and decided not to care! Because they weren’t real at all and what made it worse that in 2020 was that two months later they picked up the BLM fight, advocating for the destruction in the streets… and screaming for the defunding of the police while they sit pretty in their gated homes and gated communities.”

Apart from the 36-year-old actress, Brett also slams celebrities like Gal Gadot, Chrissy Teigen, David Geffen, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and others in her video.

As soon as the video was uploaded, a clip where Brett is criticising Priyanka was shared on the subreddit, Bolly Blinds N Gossip. It didn’t take that long for netizens to rush to the comment section of the post to slam Cooper and inform her about the ‘care for carers movement,’ which had happened in various parts of the world, not just India.

One even shared how she was one of the few Indian celebrities who actively shared information about the COVID-19 resources available. A netizen wrote, “I don’t get the “clapping from her huge mansion” part. Yes, PC does have the liberty to live in a highly upper-class area today. But that is purely because she worked super hard to get there without any privileges backing her up, so it’s not like she doesn’t understand what struggling is for a common person.”

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has Citadel season 2, Heads of State, and The Bluff in Hollywood. She will also be starring in Farhan Akhtar’s much-awaited film Jee Le Zaraa, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. An announcement on the film is yet to be made by the makers. She will also be reportedly seen in SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s upcoming project, tentatively titled SSMB 11.
