All The Times Beyoncé Slayed on the Met Gala Red Carpet

Beyoncé is known for being a fashion chameleon both on- and offstage especially when it comes to the Met Gala. The singer recently called on Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing to design her Coachella performance wardrobe, which included a collegiate-style hoodie with hot pants and an Egyptian-inspired cape and headdress—two looks that couldn’t be further from each other, though it somehow all worked. When it comes to the Met Gala red carpet, though, Beyoncé keeps Givenchy close to the heart: she’s worn the now-departed creative director Riccardo Tisci’s custom creations for the French label five years running.

In 2012, she stunned in an ombré haute couture gown with a purple feathered train that trailed behind her as she ascended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s grand staircase. Fast-forward to 2014, when Beyoncé turned heads in a plunging mesh dress cut down to there and a matching veil pulled over her eyes. She came back the next year in yet another dangerously sheer, crystal-embroidered confection that put her famous curves on full display. But perhaps the most daring turn of all was the “naked dress” she wore back in 2016, an extension of her latex-heavy tour costumes. Beyoncé sat 2017 out, as she was expecting her two twins who were born the following month, but there’s no telling what she has in store for her long-awaited return to the ball on the first Monday in May this year. If her past red-carpet moments are anything to go by, it’s sure to be flawless. Check out all the times Beyoncé slayed the Met Gala red carpet below and who the singer wore every year.
