It’s hard to dispute that 2024 was the year of blonde. Not only did all the pros call out this classic shade as one of the biggest color trends for this winter, so many of our favorite celebs kept gravitating toward these golden hues.
From caramel tones to platinum-silver finishes, the stars wore the classic shade in so many ways that if you’ve ever considered going blonde (and who among us hasn’t), now may be as good a time as any. To help serve some hair color inspo, we’ve rounded up the times that our favorite celebs light and bright. Scroll through and take a look back at some of the best hair transformations this year.
Kendall Jenner
Back in September of this year, Kendall Jenner debuted “Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy” blonde. “It took me two days to take her this gorgeous shade of golden blonde,” celebrity colorist Jenna Perry told Vogue about the change she worked on for Jenner. “She is really inspired by the ’90s and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy right now.”
Angelina Jolie
At the start of 2024, Angelina Jolie was seen leaving her Atelier Jolie store in Manhattan with bright blonde hair and chunky layers. Jolie had ombré hair with blonde tips at the end of 2023 and seemed to fully commit to the blonde shade by February.
Zendaya
Zendaya gave us both incredible fits and newly dyed hair during the pure fun of the Challengers press tour. She debuted a blonde caramel in a chic updo and stunned in a custom Loewe tennis-court dress that we’re still thinking about daily.
Zoey Deutch
In one of the most dramatic transformations this year, Zoey Deutch went from long dark waves to a bright blonde pixie cut. Deutch confirmed with Vogue that she will be playing French icon Jean Seberg in an upcoming Richard Linklater film and committed fully to emulating the French New Wave cut. “I like being blonde so much more with this cut,” Deutch said of her new look. I was surprised by how unattached I felt to my hair. It’s freeing and fun.”
Rihanna
It’s just fitting that Rihanna debuts new hair when announcing the launch of Fenty Hair earlier this year. The beauty founder and singer had long honey-blonde strands before going back to her signature dark hair.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to platinum silver hair and she brought back this signature shade for this year’s Met Gala. “We couldn’t have warm golden hair—it had to be icy and cool to complement the colors of the gown,” celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton told Vogue of Kardashian’s new shade. “This shade is silvery and cool.”
Simone Biles
If you’re not wanting to fully commit to going blonde, opt for subtle highlights like Simone Biles. Biles added a few bright blonde highlights to her long dark hair for a striking contrast.
Camila Cabello
Though Cabello is back to her signature dark hair, the singer was rocking long platinum blonde strands for the summer.
Joey King
There’s no place like the Cannes Film Festival to debut a whole new hair look. Joey King showed off a new blonde pixie that’s timeless and chic.
Timothée Chalamet
In both an incredible deep-cut Bob Dylan reference and a moment that sent chills through the beauty world, Timothée went golden blonde. Is it clip-on bangs or for real? Only time will tell.
