New Delhi: India showcased its green hydrogen mobility advancements to Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and his delegation, demonstrating a hydrogen-fueled bus powered by IndianOil. The event, highlighting India’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions, was attended by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and V Satish Kumar, Chairman & Director (Marketing), along with other senior dignitaries from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, a PIB press release stated.

During the demonstration, Puri emphasized India’s dedication to green energy solutions, stating, “India’s strides in green hydrogen are a testament to our commitment to sustainable energy solutions. We are eager to extend our expertise and collaborate with regional partners like Bhutan to pave the way for a cleaner, greener future.” He highlighted India’s proactive measures in pursuing hydrogen blending in natural gas pipelines, localizing electrolyzer-based technologies, and promoting bio-pathways for green hydrogen production.

IndianOil, a pioneer in hydrogen research since 2004, has expanded its focus on green hydrogen initiatives in recent years. The company’s efforts encompass storage, transportation, and various applications, including India’s first hydrogen dispensing station at its R&D Centre in Faridabad. The collaboration with Tata Motors has led to the development and operation of green hydrogen fuel cell buses. Eight fuel cell buses, including one each for the Indian Army and Navy, currently operate in the Delhi NCR region. Additionally, four buses are deployed in Vadodara, refueled at IndianOil’s hydrogen dispensing station. These initiatives reinforce IndianOil’s leadership in advancing green hydrogen solutions for eco-friendly transportation.
