New Delhi: In a move to bolster digitization and transparency in land record management, Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated the International Workshop on “Modern Technologies in Survey-Resurvey for Urban Land Records” in New Delhi on Monday. The workshop, held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, brought together national and international experts to discuss best practices and the latest technologies for urban land record modernization, a PIB press release stated.
Speaking at the event, Minister Chouhan reaffirmed the Indian government’s commitment to the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). He emphasized the critical role of accurate and accessible land records in optimizing land resources, facilitating policy planning, and enhancing the effectiveness of public service delivery.
The Minister also drew attention to the “National geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban Habitations (NAKSHA),” a pilot project launched by the Department of Land Resources. This initiative aims to create digital land records in over 100 cities across India within a year, paving the way for a full-fledged survey covering the entire urban landscape within five years.
Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, Shri Manoj Joshi, emphasized the significance of the pilot program and the workshop in leveraging technology for efficient land record management. He highlighted the role of Survey of India in providing technical support for drone flying in cities, enabling the creation of detailed urban land records. The event also included a technology exhibition showcasing over 30 Indian and international companies offering cutting-edge solutions for survey and resurvey technologies.
