Beaumont becomes first ever women’s cricketer to hit hundred in the tournament on August 14 while playing for Welsh Fire against the Trent Rockets
Tammy Beaumont etched her name in history with a remarkable century in the Women’s Hundred. The England batter’s explosive knock of 118 runs off 61 balls led Welsh Fire to a commanding 41-run triumph over Trent Rockets. In a groundbreaking feat, Beaumont not only secured the first-ever century in The Women’s Hundred but also claimed the highest individual score across both men’s and women’s editions. Her innings surpassed the previous record set by Will Jacks, who had scored 108 not out for Oval Invincibles last year.
Executing her shots with finesse, Beaumont maintained a striking strike rate of 193.33, including two sixes and an impressive 20 boundaries. Her electrifying century catapulted Welsh Fire to a formidable 181-3 in 100 balls, marking a new benchmark in women’s cricket.
In response, Trent Rockets managed 140/5, with Freya Davies taking two wickets, while Alex Hartley, Shabnim Ismail, and Sophia Dunkley claimed one each. Byrony Smith’s valiant effort, scoring 48 off 21, wasn’t enough to steer Rockets to victory.
Reflecting on her extraordinary performance, Beaumont humbly shared, “I don’t know what just happened to be honest. I just had an absolute day out. It was great to put on a show for the fans,” expressing her exhilaration to Sky Sports.
Beaumont’s journey of triumph continues, marked by her resilience after surviving a dropped catch at 32 and successfully challenging a leg-before decision at 75. Notably, she has now registered centuries across four different cricket formats. Earlier in June, Beaumont had made history by becoming the first Englishwoman to score a double century in Test cricket, recording an impressive 208 against Australia in the Ashes – a remarkable milestone in her illustrious career.
