Volkswagen launches Virtus GT Line, GT Plus Sport: Here’s what’s new

Volkswagen has launched an updated GT range of Virtus in the market. The new trims named GT Line and GT Plus Sport were first unveiled by the company during its annual press conference earlier in March this year. Besides the GT range, the German brand has also added a new Highline Plus trim for both Virtus and its platform sibling Taigun .

The Virtus GT Line is priced at Rs 14.08 lakh and Rs 15.18 lakh (both ex-showroom) for the manual and automatic variants, respectively. The GT Line trim is only available with the 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This iteration of the Virtus gets several exterior and interior enhancements over the regular model.

The exterior of the Virtus GT Line gets a blacked LED headlamps with LED DRLs, blacked-out front grille, 16-inch Razor black alloy wheels, GT Line badge on doors and boot lid, dark chrome garnish on door handles, black coloured ‘VIRTUS’ on boot lid, glossy black spoiler on boot lid, and black coloured window bar. 

Inside the cabin, the Virtus GT Line is adorned by an all-black cabin featuring black leatherette and fabric seat upholstery with grey stitching̣. Other cosmetic highlights include aluminium pedals, gloss black dashboard, and an all-black treatment on headliner, sun-visors, grab handles, and door trim. 

In terms of features, the Virtus GT Line gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, touch-sensitive climate control, keyless entry, start/stop system, and red ambient lighting. Safety package comprises 6 airbags, ESC, ABS, EBD, BA, Multi Collision brakes, traction control system, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, and front & rear fog lamps.

Prices for the Virtus GT Plus Sport will start at Rs 17.85 lakh. This trim of the mid-size sedan is priced slightly higher than the GT Plus Chrome edition of Virtus priced at Rs 17.69 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). This GT Plus Sport trim comes with the 1.5-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Like the GT Line, the Virtus GT Sport Plus also gets cosmetic and features upgrades over the standard model. These include exterior embellishments such as font GT logo in red, blackened LED headlights, red coloured GT badge on the fender and boot lid, blacked-out front grille, ORVMs, window bar, and “VIRTUS”  lettering on boot lid. In addition, it gets 16-inch Razor black alloy wheels, a gloss black spoiler, red coloured front brake callipers, and dark chrome door handles.

Inside the cabin of the Virtus GT Plus Sport, it gets an all-black interior theme featuring black headliner, grab handles, sun visor, door handles, and leatherette seat upholstery which contrast with red-coloured highlights such as stitching on the steering wheel cover, and seat covers and upholstery, along with a GT clasp red accent. Other feature highlights include aluminium pedals, red ambient lighting, and gloss black dashboard decor and door handle decor.
