Bengaluru Hair Heist: 830 Kilos Of Human Hair Worth Rs 1 Crore Stolen By A Gang Of Six; Cops Combing For Suspects

In a bizarre burgalary, a gang of six thieves broke into a godown in a commercial building in Lakshmipura Cross and stole bags containing Rs 1 crore worth of human hair.

The consignment of the тАШblack goldтАЩ belonged to a 73-year-old hair trader, Venkatswamy K. The septuagenarian had recently relocated his storage from Hebbal to the current location. Per a report filed with the Soladevanahalli police, the new godown was active since February 12 and stored 27 bags consisting of 830 kilograms of hair.

Per the businessman, a gang of six broke the shutter of the storage and robbed away the bags containing the hairs. The thieves arrived on February 28 at midnight in a Mahindra Bolero SUV. They carried iron rods to break in. The act was also caught on CCTV. Per the trader, a local resident witnessed the gang siphoning off with the bags. Per the witness, the miscreants were allegedly speaking in Telugu. The innocent local assumed the bags belonged to the men and were getting them back home. However, another local noticed they were stealing the bags of hair, some of which were scattered on the road. The local cops were alerted who jumped into action. They arrived at the scene and found the storage shutters partially open. Shop owners of the nearby buildings were informed of the incident, including the hair trader.

The hair traderтАЩs hair supply business belongs to a Hyderabad-based exporter who ships the assets to Burma, which is eventually sold in China.

Meanwhile, the police are combing the town for suspects.
