Ex-Google Boss Warns About Osama Bin Laden-Like Attack With AI; ‘Some Truly Evil Person Can…’

In his recent tete-a-tete with the BBC, tech behemoth Google’s former boss Eric Schmidt issued a grim warning about the misuse of artificial intelligence.

While the most common misuse encompasses plagiarizing content to generate non-consensual explicit media, deepfakes, and propaganda content, the truly evil extent of AI can wreak havoc, destroying more than just a persona, policy, or party. When asked, “What keeps you up at night when it comes to artificial intelligence?” the 69-year-old computer scientist stated,

With the rapid advancement in AI and its amalgamation with robotics, a new front of weapon technology has emerged. Access to power grids and other utilities can make nations tremble as the lives of denizens go haywire. In his talk, Schmidt, who began his career in 1975 at Bell Labs, remarked

He further feared that these nations might adopt AI to create biological weapons

In the BBC talk, the co-author of programming language Lex further added,

With studies reporting artificial intelligence models learning to self-replicate without even achieving true conscience yet, only time will reveal the scale of AI-fueled devastation. Shouldn’t the government be alarmed?
