At MWC 2025, Google is showcasing two new Gemini Live features: Live Video and screen-sharing. Live Video allows users to have real-time video conversations with the AI chatbot within the Gemini Live interface. The screen-sharing feature enables users to share their screen with Gemini, allowing the AI to answer queries based on what it observes. These features will be rolled out to paid subscribers later this month.

At MWC 2025, Google is hosting interactive demonstrations of its new Gemini features, including Live Video and screen-sharing, alongside other functionalities like Circle to Search’s language translation. These features, developed by DeepMind as part of Project Astra, were first introduced at Google I/O 2024.

Live Video, one of the key updates, allows users to interact with Gemini through their device’s camera. The AI can process real-time visual information and provide instant feedback. In a YouTube demo, a user shows Gemini their pottery collection and asks for color suggestions for a vase. Gemini analyzes the displayed colors and options, recommending a choice that complements the collection.

Once available, eligible users will find a video icon in the Gemini Live interface to access this feature. This addition demonstrates the AI’s ability to engage with users through both visual and conversational inputs, offering tailored recommendations in real time.

The second new feature in Gemini is screen-sharing. Previously, users could tap an “Ask about screen” button to capture a screenshot, share it with the AI, and ask questions about the image. The new addition, “Share screen with Live,” enhances this by enabling real-time screen recording and interaction with Gemini.

With screen-sharing active, Gemini can answer queries about the current screen while also following users as they navigate between apps or pages. It can assist with general queries, help locate settings, or find specific web pages, providing seamless, real-time support throughout the user’s actions.
