Bengaluru-based startup Topmate, which connects users with industry professionals, is creating quite a buzz online with its latest announcement. The company has offered delivery of humans in 10 minutes flat.
In a social media post, a Topmate employee stated that it’s all over for the likes of Blinkit, Zepto, and Instamart, which are the giants in the quick commerce space in India. Are they venturing into the ride-hailing domain to compete with the likes of Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola? Nope!
Topmate claims to deliver a human consultant or referral at your beck and call (quite literally on a call) in ten minutes tops. The startup hails on-demand human consultancy or referral, better than Google or AI chatbots like ChatGPT, etc. The firm claims to help users land their dream jobs with the 10-minute referral service. Company’s marketing lead, Nimisha Chanda, stated on her X/Twitter post that Topmate doesn’t spend on advertisements, claiming that service is “one of the fastest growing segments.”

How about pricing? The portal clinches 7% commission on their Basic subscription, while 10% on the Premium version, which claims to get you better earnings. An additional transactional fee is accrued.
Reactions poured in with a section of users getting skeptical about the services offered, even as many appreciated the initiative. “This is idiotic,” jibed one, while another wrote, “Sounds sus.” One user commented on the “information fatigue,” while another remarked, “Free gyaan on X is better than getting paid one at Topmate.” A few others reacted, “Slavery is back and how.”
