Former American energy giant Enron announced its latest deliverable, ‘The Egg’, a powerful new portable nuclear reactor to power households for ten continuous years.
In its statement at the unveiling site, Enron dropped the specs and USP of the cutting-edge device. Beneath the sturdy, albumin-colored, heat-resistant casing lay a complex engineered mechanism that holds both a reactor core and a heavy water pump for coolant. The Egg ships with a display. Under the hood is a powerful chip. In its unveiling video, the host stated that the product will revolutionize three industries, including power, independence and the freedom industry. Before you jump in with your community notes, both the Enron account on social media and its product are parody.
Reactions poured in with memes. The ‘kinder joy’ meme in the replies is the most liked one, delighting netizens. The internet was also humored at the ‘stand and screwdriver sold separately’ jibes by other users.
Enron was embroiled in one of the biggest corporate scandals in history with accounting fraud in 2001, post which the company filed for bankruptcy. Arthur Andersen, its accounting firm, was dissolved after the debacle. The scandal paved the way for the enactment of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which imposes a hefty penalty on manipulating financial records.
