Last week, OnePlus launched its highly anticipated flagship smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 3, to much excitement around the globe. However, shortly after its release, a surprising issue surfaced: a typographical error on the backplate of the watch. Instead of reading “Made in China,” the text mistakenly said “Meda in China.” The error quickly caught the attention of customers and fans alike. OnePlus was quick to address the mistake, calling it “totally unintentional” and offering affected customers the option to return their units.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), OnePlus USA acknowledged the mix-up, explaining that the error “slipped through” during production. The company assured those who had already purchased or pre-ordered the watch with the typo that they could return it without any extra cost. For those who prefer to keep their watch, OnePlus even joked that they could consider it a “super limited edition,” adding a unique twist to the situation. The company has since started correcting the error, with updated stock featuring the corrected text set to arrive soon.
The OnePlus Watch 3 is priced at $329 (roughly Rs. 29,000) in the US, and buyers can take advantage of some enticing offers. There’s a $30 discount (around Rs. 2,600) available, and customers who trade in their old smartwatch can save an additional $50 (roughly Rs. 4,300). Pre-orders for the smartwatch are already live, and deliveries are expected to begin on February 25.
Beyond the minor hiccup, the OnePlus Watch 3 is an impressive piece of technology. It features a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 460×460 pixel resolution and a peak brightness of 2,200 nits, ensuring clarity even in bright sunlight. The display is protected by sapphire crystal glass, and the watch’s titanium alloy bezels add to its durability. It’s also MIL-STD-810H certified, meaning it can withstand tough conditions and impacts. Plus, the watch is rated IP68, making it resistant to dust and water, with the ability to handle immersion up to 5 ATM.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Watch 3 is powered by the Snapdragon W5 processor and the BES2800BP MCU, ensuring smooth performance. It comes with 32GB of internal storage and runs on Google’s Wear OS 5, along with Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) integration. The smartwatch also caters to health and fitness enthusiasts with a wrist temperature sensor, an optical heart rate monitor, and a pulse oximeter for tracking various health metrics.
Battery life is another strong point of the OnePlus Watch 3. In smart mode, it can last up to 5 days on a single charge, and with power saver mode, it can stretch up to an impressive 16 days. With its sleek design, powerful specs, and long-lasting battery, the OnePlus Watch 3 is shaping up to be a top contender in the smartwatch market.
