Bengaluru Braces For Widespread Moderate Rainfall With Thunderstorms, Lightning & Gusty Winds

Bengaluru: The city is experiencing a change in its weather, offering chilly temperatures to the residents due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal. The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 19 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is set to experience widespread moderate rainfall on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. The city woke up at 06:27 am, and the sun is expected to set at 5:52 pm. The humidity level is expected to range around 77 per cent, which is lower than the humidity level on Monday.

Today, the wind is expected to blow steadily from the Southeast at a speed of 11 km/h, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to stand at 31, which indicates good air quality in the city.

The IMD has forecasted cloudy skies, which are likely to remain the same throughout the day. Lightning, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely to occur with widespread moderate rainfall. The weather department has issued a yellow alert in the numerous regions of Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hasan, Mysuru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Chamarajanagar, for December 3.

Taking the IMD as a source, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared the weather report on X and stated, “Widespread moderate rain with scattered thundershowers in the southern interior, coastal and rainfed districts of the state, heavy rain is expected today, less rain is likely in the rest of the days.”

Cyclone Fengal update

Cyclone Fengal, which was formed due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal, weakened to a deep depression and made landfall in Tamil Nadu on December 2, 2024. Before making landfall in Tamil Nadu, the cyclone was activated in Karnataka and affected numerous regions, including Bengaluru. Despite the landfall, the IMD said that the cyclone could show its impact on December 3.

Weather forecast for upcoming days

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for December 4 in coastal areas and the North Interior Karnataka. In the upcoming days, temperatures could dip to 12 degrees Celsius.
