Raipur: The High Court of Chhattisgarh has voiced strong dissatisfaction with the state government’s response regarding the appointment of D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) candidates.
During the hearing, the court granted the government a final 15-day extension to complete the process, warning that failure to comply would compel the court to take strict action.
Presiding over the case, Justice Arvind Verma emphasized that the Supreme Court’s directive must be implemented without exception. The court reiterated its earlier ruling that only D.El.Ed-qualified candidates are eligible for the post of assistant teachers for classes 1 to 5 in primary schools, based on the merit list.
The court expressed its frustration after the Advocate General’s law officers argued that completing the recruitment process mid-academic session could create challenges. Justice Verma rejected the justification, emphasizing that the Supreme Court’s orders leave no room for further delay.
The High Court had previously asked the state government to prioritize D.El.Ed-qualified candidates over B.Ed-qualified candidates for assistant teacher positions in primary schools. However, the state government failed to act on these instructions, prompting the D.El.Ed candidates to file a contempt petition.
Advocate Ishan Verma, representing the petitioners, argued that the government’s inaction is a clear violation of court directives. The hearing revealed that the government’s delay is not only affecting the petitioners but also the education system, as eligible candidates remain unemployed.
The High Court has made it clear that this 15-day period is the final opportunity for the state government to comply with the court’s order. The court’s strict stance underscores the urgency of resolving the matter and ensuring that the rights of D.El.Ed candidates are upheld.
