Ajmer (Rajasthan), April 12: A gruesome case of betrayal and murder has shaken the Nasirabad Sadar region of Ajmer district, where a woman conspired with her differently-abled lover to kill her husband. Within 48 hours of the crime, Ajmer police arrested both accused, the wife who has been identified as Janta (29) and her lover Bashir Khan (29).
Details About The Incident
On the morning of Tuesday (April 8), police received a call about a man’s body lying near Tamanna Colony on Rajoosi Road. The body was discovered about 100 meters from the main road, beside a concrete path.
Officers from the Nasirabad Sadar Police Station reached the spot and took the dead body into their custody. The victim was later identified as Mastan who was a resident of Rajoosi village. His body was sent for autopsy and forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene.
Police Suspect Wife
Soon after, Mastan’s younger brother Ghisa informed the police that his sister-in-law Janta had been having an affair with a man named Bashir Khan. He suspected the duo of plotting Mastan’s murder. Based on his complaint, police registered a case under sections 140(1) and 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a detailed investigation.

Special Team Cracks Case Quickly
Recognising the sensitivity of the case, Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana formed a special investigation team led by senior officers. The team was divided into four units to handle different aspects, technical surveillance, ground-level evidence collection, intelligence gathering and suspect tracing. Working in coordination, the teams solved the case within a day.
Chilling Murder Plot Unfolds
During interrogation, Janta and Bashir confessed to the murder. Police revealed that Janta and Bashir had been in a romantic relationship for over a year. Mastan, who disapproved of the affair, became a hurdle for them. To remove him from the equation, the two plotted his killing.
On Monday (April 7), Janta convinced her husband to go out for a drink with Bashir, pretending it was a friendly gathering. She told him that Bashir would also offer financial help. Once Mastan agreed and left the house, Janta informed Bashir.
The two men went to an abandoned area near the Housing Board. There, Bashir first had a few drinks with Mastan. Once Mastan was heavily intoxicated and unable to resist, Bashir pulled out a knife and slit his throat, killing him on the spot. He then escaped on his four-wheeled scooter. Though Janta wasn’t at the crime scene, police say she played an equal role in orchestrating the murder.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Thanks to mobile location tracking and local intelligence, police tracked down and arrested both Janta and Bashir on Wednesday (April 9). Further investigation is ongoing into the case.
