Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya: MP CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates Grand Play On Emperor Vikramaditya At Delhi’s Red Fort

New Delhi/Bhopal: The life and legacy of the great Indian emperor Vikramaditya was showcased at India’s historic Red Fort in Delhi on Saturday (April 12).

The show Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya, held at Madhavdas Park inside the Red Fort, mesmerized thousands in the audience. Over 250 artists performed scenes from the emperor’s life. 

They showcased his wisdom, bravery, and role in shaping ancient India. Spectators were deeply moved, calling it one of the most powerful and unforgettable live performances they had ever seen.

India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the show as the chief guest. He was joined by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The event began with the national anthem and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Vice President Dhankhar praised CM Mohan Yadav for organizing such a meaningful event in the heart of Delhi. “It’s a proud moment for our nation. India is entering a new era, progressing on land, sea, and even in space. The legacy of Emperor Vikramaditya, who stood for justice and good governance, is once again being remembered,” he said. He added that India’s 5,000-year-old cultural heritage is something the world looks up to today.

MP CM Mohan Yadav played Vikramaditya’s father’s role

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the emperor’s 2,000-year-old legacy and said Vikramaditya’s reign reminded him of the ideal rule of Lord Ram. “He not only ruled India with strength and wisdom but uplifted humanity as a whole. The Vikram Samvat calendar, which began in his time, continues to be a symbol of our ancient values,” Yadav said. He also revealed that he played the role of Vikramaditya’s father in the play, adding a personal touch to the event.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed gratitude to Yadav for bringing this cultural spectacle to the capital. “This is a proud moment for Delhi. Our citizens got a chance to witness the courage and values of Emperor Vikramaditya live on stage,” she said.

Programme to continue on April 13, 14

The Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya will also be performed on April 13 and 14. The production features grand visuals including palanquins, chariots, horses, and LED graphics for special effects.
